Job Opening: City Manager

The City of Bay City, Oregon, is accepting applications for the position of City Manager.

The City Manager serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the City, accountable to the City Council and responsible for enforcement of all City codes and regulations, the conduct of all financial activities and the efficient and economical performance of the City’s operations.

The ideal candidate will possess at least seven (7) years of administrative/management experience, including previous experience as a chief executive officer; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.     

The successful City Manager candidate will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; a focus on customer service, accountability, and transparency; experience in community development, and strong planning skills; be able to manage a diverse team of subordinates and department heads; and possess an understanding of the current issues facing the City of Bay City.

The City Manager must have the skill and experience in directing the city’s bureaucracy to help the City Council make sound decisions. They must also possess the qualities of a good public administrator in order to carry out those decisions (government policies) made by the council.
